From classroom projects to clubs and Assemblies, community is all around U at UPrep. Check out some moments of the Puma community in action captured on campus this fall!
First Day of School
Faculty, staff, student government leaders, and the Puma welcomed students back to campus on the first day of school with an archway and lots of Puma pride!
Suicide Prevention Week
As part of the UPrep Mental Health Advisory Board’s campaign to reduce stigma and spread the word about the mental health resources available to our students, community members wore T-shirts during Suicide Prevention Week with the message: “U are loved. U are not alone. U are seen. U matter. We care.”
Upper School Camp Day
Upper School Pumas had so much fun competing in games for class cup points during Camp Day. Even Director of Upper School Susie Wu got in on the tug-of-war action!
Back-to-School Celebration
We celebrated the start of the school year and the end of grade-level retreats with the whole community! Parents, guardians, students, faculty, and staff gathered on Dahl Playfield to enjoy meals from food trucks, play games, and reconnect after the summer break.
6th Grade Rocket Build
Our 6th graders worked together, with guidance from their Integrated Science I teachers, to construct and launch their very own rockets— always a highlight of the fall for our youngest Pumas!
Club Fairs
Leaders from UPrep’s 30-plus student-run clubs and affinity groups, like the Muslim Student Association, presented to and welcomed new members during our annual Club Fairs.
Homecoming
Hi, Barbie! To celebrate Barbie-themed Homecoming 2023, a pink-clad group of student government leaders, dance students, faculty, and staff performed a flash mob to Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” from the movie’s soundtrack.
Alumni Care Package Event
Community Engagement and Alumni Manager Claire Fallat mailed care packages to alumni from the class of 2023. Each fall, alumni parents and our College Counseling Team come together on campus to stuff envelopes full of handwritten notes and other treats for our newest graduates!
Red Hot Dance
Science Teacher Mikayla Patella-Buckley leads a weekly after-school Red Hot Dance fitness class as part of UPrep’s faculty and staff wellness programming. It’s an exuberant hour as the adults dance and sweat together to popular music!
Halloween
Halloween is always a joy-filled day on campus, from pumpkin carving and costume contests to the annual “Thriller” dance performance. These Middle School students had a blast during the mummy-wrap competition!
Puma Heritage Celebration
At the annual Puma Heritage Celebration (formerly known as Culture Night), our community learned about and celebrated the many cultures, religions, ethnicities, and countries represented at UPrep. The night was full of delicious food, inspired performances, and interactive sharing and learning tables, like this one hosted by 8th grade student Keylly G. G. and her family.
